Episode 183 – The Stage is Set for a Feature

Hello again, folks! For the past few weeks we’ve shared a handful of rediscovered treasures – episodes that were lost to our archives. Tonight we’re still taking a look back in a way, but with some brand-new stories to tell.  Our first selection is none-other than one of our MAT Features!  But how can that be, you ask?  Well, if you’re a long-time listener, you may have noticed back in 2014 that only one of our two winning Scriptwriting Competition entries was produced to air.  Some unfortunate stalling and production backfiring occurred that year which prevented us from sharing the second story with you…but weRead More →

Episode 182 – …And A Happy New Year!

HAPPY 2016, EVERYONE! Well, we’re back again!  Christmas has come and gone, but the holidays are still here, including New Year’s Day celebrations.  For the first time we’re joining in on the fun -by pulling together a New Year’s Day episode for your listening enjoyment.  It’s a little bit of everything, as we start with our final MAT Feature of 2015: a sci-fi adventure entitled “Tara Flame On Patrol”, by Evan Waters. “Tara Flame” was a blast to produce, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we have!  Blasting off from that, we follow it up with another gem from The Truth Podcast entitled “Happy New Year“;Read More →

Episode 181 – More Holiday Tales (and a Feature!)

What a night for some holiday audio dramas!  And tonight, we have an extra treat – another story from our 2015 MAT Features!  It’s not Christmas-themed per-se, but it does start far up north, where a research team is investigating some uncovered ruins in a melting glacier. The story is written by Jim McDoniel, one of the winners of our scriptwriting competition last year. Both cast and crew greatly enjoyed this script, and we only hope that we did it justice! For our holiday selections, we start with a tale from Misfits Audio Productions entitled “Moop Saves Christmas“. It’s a sequel to “Moop’s Christmas Carol“, where a tiny alienRead More →

Episode 180 – A Red Panda and a Flying Squirrel for Christmas

Welcome back, dear listeners – and a jolly December evening to you!  We have another set of holiday tales in store for you tonight – no MAT Features again this week, but rather two back-to-back adventures with our favorite Canadian superheroes, Red Panda and Flying Squirrel!   If you tuned in for MAT Features, not to worry – you’ll be able to hear more of those next week in a Feature Double-Header, so stay tuned! And now, thanks to Decoder Ring Theatre, we have plenty of holiday heroism in the works.  We’ll be starting with Episode 26 – A Midwinter Murder, and finishing up with Episode 30 –Read More →

Episode 179 – Not Your Average Holiday-time

Happy Holidays, everyone!  November is gone, and now it’s time to shower you with many a winter-wonderland-type tale!  This month we’re breaking out the Christmas stories, and every year we try to find a collection of unique and lesser-known tales, instead of the traditional “Carol”.  Tonight is certainly high on that unique list, with pieces from The Truth Podcast and 19 Nocturne Boulevard.  We start with “Naughty or Nice“, which shows us a glimpse of the infrastructure behind Santa’s corporate organization.  After that is a “Trilogy for Xmas“, with stories from the 1912 anthology “A Christmas Garland”, adapted for audio drama – “Scruts” by Arnold Bennett, “PCRead More →

Episode 177 – Jazz Shoes and Gumshoes

We’re on week three of our November episodes!  If you’ve missed it recently, we’re waiting until December for all of the winter holiday celebrations and have been focusing on stories with themes of rememberance and family this month. Tonight continues on that track, by bringing you the second half of “In the Embers” by Great Northern Audio Theatre.  When we last left our story, archaeologist Digger Moran had just received the alarming news that access to his dig site was about to be plowed down by local developers, just as he’s begun to scratch the surface of the mystery behind lost 1920s jazz singer Kit Jeffers.  AtRead More →

Episode 176 – Embers of a Music Box

Audio drama, get your audio drama!  This month we’ve decided to wait on the winter holiday hullabaloo, and instead  focus on  stories involving family and remembrance in our lead-up to Thanksgiving. This week and next we have a story from Great Northern Audio Theatre, entitled “In the Embers” which premiered at the HEAR Now Festival in Kansas City earlier this year.  With this story’s release, Great Northern Audio is excited to announce that their story has been picked up by Blackstone Audio, and is available on their website starting December 8th.  That includes a making-of documentary created especially for the release of “In the Embers”. Be sure to check theRead More →

Episode 168 – Voyage to the Bloody Tower

Sad but true, folks – tonight is our last show of HEAR Now Festival features from way back in June.   But what great shows to end on!  This episode, we kick things off with two stories from The Truth Podcast, produced by Jonathan Mitchell. We had one or two selections on our show from “The Truth” years ago, and to hear the podcast at the HEAR Now Festival was really exciting. The two stories featured at the festival were “Voyager Found” and “Sylvia’s Blood“. Both of them won recognitions at the Mark Time Awards, including Science Fiction Finalist, the Gold Award for Horror, and Best EnsembleRead More →

Episode 167 – Stings, Doesn’t It Johnny?

Welcome back, everyone!  This episode, it’s another one of our, “no-chatting” shows as we stuff the hour to the brim with audio drama.  We continue our HEAR Now audio features series as Peter Gruenbaum shares the second installment of The Sting of the Dark Tower with us, and we also hear from our good friends at Atlanta Radio Theatre Company and their feature piece, “Blues for Johnny Raven“, the Silver winner of this year’s Mark Time Award‘s “Nick Danger Prize” for Mystery/Detective audio.  A few weeks ago, this piece was also the focus of an IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds for its’ CD release, andRead More →

Episode 166 – Trades and Towers

Fantasy galore, both lighthearted and suspicious, are here in this episode – and all of them featured at HEAR Now 2015!   As promised last week, we have returned with another look at the latest excitement at the House of Healing, run by Alba Salix: Royal Physician.  After that, we have another new production to the show, “The Sting of the Dark Tower” by Peter Gruenbaum. Peter is a Seattle-based writer who read C.S. Lewis’ unfinished novel “The Dark Tower” and was determined to adapted it for radio. The end result: a weaving of element of the original story into something new.  With “Sting” complete, PeterRead More →
