Episode 242 – Dead Signals, Above and Below

And thanks for tuning in, audio drama listeners! If you’ve been hearing some static on-air recently, blame mother nature. WCBE recently took a nasty hit to our transmitter thanks to a well-placed lightening strike.  We’re doing our best to get everything back to proper broadcasting quality and standards, but we will definitely need replacement parts we don’t have to fix this.  If you have a minute and a few extra dollars please go to wcbe.org and make a donation to help us return to full broadcast operation! In the meantime, it’s pure coincidence that tonight we’re airing another work from the production group Dead Signals. YouRead More →

Episode 238 – A Few Rivetting Tales

It’s another night of new audio drama on Midnight Audio Theatre!  This show we get back on track with our friends at It’s All Been Done Radio Hour, and welcome new friends at Downstairs Entertainment as we get a listen to their noir production, Rex Rivetter: Private Eye.  Mystery, scifi, horror and comedy – there’s something for everyone this show! We’re opening our show up with a double dose of local listening.  As It’s All Been Done Radio Hour‘s live show is the following day – and we’ve neglected them the past month or two – this show presents two of their stories back-to-back.  To startRead More →

Episode 237 – A Trip Into the Unknown

Hi folks!  This show we shared a full hour of the Atlanta Radio Theatre Company in a special-crafted full hour of “ARTC Presents”, which they made available through PRX.  There’s a great variety of stories here from their series Into the Labyrinth, which include “Time for Station Identification”, “Our Fair City”, “Philip Meow-Lowe, PI” and “Wiki-history”, all recorded from live performances of the pieces.  And I do mean a full hour – which is good for this sinus-infection-weary host.  It’s a night of the unknown, with time travel with and without a time machine in “The More Things Change“.  Enjoy!   Don’t Forget to Check Out:Read More →

Episode 213 – Radio Mistakes Have All Been Done Before

It’s October!  Time for fall, time for Halloween and  for World Audio Drama Day – making this an extra special month for audio storytelling, especially of the spooky, strange and unusual type.  While in past years we’ve made October shows particularly horror-full, this month we’ve decided to go the more bizarre and unnatural route and keep things a little lighter around here.  This show will be a nice transition to this, as we move from the unknown suspense of The Orphans into the eclectic characters from King Falls AM and It’s All Been Done Radio Hour. You’ve been hearing episodes of The Orphans for theRead More →

Episode 209 – A Look Into The Archive

Hello and welcome back everyone! Tonight’s show brings us horror, mystery and suspense in a found-recording audio drama that has taken off since their release in March of 2016. The production group Dead Signals is headed up by Mark Sollinger and Daniel Powell, and this episode we spend the full hour giving you a taste of their series Archive 81. Mark and Dan have been working together since college, where they collaborated on a 10-episode scifi audio drama. They have both been involved in professional audio since then, but continue to work on audio dramas in their spare time and exercise their creative muscles.  Inspired byRead More →

Episode 200 – Scary Childhoods

Hi folks!  If you’re just tuning in, you’ll probably notice this episode is another late post – like last episode, the events and shows mentioned here have already passed, but we want to list the info for you anyway for future reference.  (This is a great track record to be keeping as we arrive at our 200th Episode, we know – a lot of unexpected work obligations and deadlines popped up over the last few weeks.  Thank you for your patience!) Episode 198 – Hostel Planet

Hi there everyone!  We’re getting back on track with our new episodes once again after our unannounced Spring Break earlier this month.  Tonight, our good friends are back from 19 Nocturne Boulevard for an evening of mystery and suspense.  We’ll be all over the map, starting out with a supernatural-western tale, and then propelled into space for a tale of the unnatural.   19 Nocturne shares with us an episode of their western series, The Deadeye Kid in a story entitled “Hostel Territory“, and a science-fiction/horror story on the surface of Venus in “Within the Walls of Eryx“, an adaptation of a story by H.P. Lovecraft and KennethRead More →
