Episode 196 – Support the Up and Coming!

Hi folks!  This episode we decided to do something we haven’t done in a while – in addition to our regular storytelling treats, we’ve put some in-production audio dramas in the spotlight as well.  Specifically, we wanted to take a look at some crowdfunding campaigns.  We know that audio drama production is a labor-of-love for most groups, with folks getting paid in thanks and appreciation.  But unfortunately it doesn’t always pay for recording equipment or acting talent or production costs.  Online donation and crowdfunding has helped fans play a direct role in bringing their favorite stories to life. This has already proven true for EverybodyelseRead More →

Episode 195 – Do Not Adjust Your Radio Set

Welcome back folks!  This show we jump from the engagement of the live radio drama performance to using the radio as part of the storytelling itself.  Normally we can’t treat ourselves to these kinds of stories on MAT, because of a certain radio drama that was broadcast on radio way-back-when, which caused enough panic that it tied up the ability of police and first-responders to react to crises.  A little thing called “War of the Worlds” — I guess you’ve heard of it? But while the FCC frowns on any broadcast that could induce that kind of panic, we think the story you hear tonightRead More →

Episode 168 – Voyage to the Bloody Tower

Sad but true, folks – tonight is our last show of HEAR Now Festival features from way back in June.   But what great shows to end on!  This episode, we kick things off with two stories from The Truth Podcast, produced by Jonathan Mitchell. We had one or two selections on our show from “The Truth” years ago, and to hear the podcast at the HEAR Now Festival was really exciting. The two stories featured at the festival were “Voyager Found” and “Sylvia’s Blood“. Both of them won recognitions at the Mark Time Awards, including Science Fiction Finalist, the Gold Award for Horror, and Best EnsembleRead More →

Episode 167 – Stings, Doesn’t It Johnny?

Welcome back, everyone!  This episode, it’s another one of our, “no-chatting” shows as we stuff the hour to the brim with audio drama.  We continue our HEAR Now audio features series as Peter Gruenbaum shares the second installment of The Sting of the Dark Tower with us, and we also hear from our good friends at Atlanta Radio Theatre Company and their feature piece, “Blues for Johnny Raven“, the Silver winner of this year’s Mark Time Award‘s “Nick Danger Prize” for Mystery/Detective audio.  A few weeks ago, this piece was also the focus of an IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds for its’ CD release, andRead More →

Episode 134 – Audio Dramas Lvl.10

Good evening, everyone!  Well, we’re officially out of summer and our Summer Season, which means we’re back with more new and original audio dramas to share.  Tonight, however, we decided to take a slight detour and give you an update on some past audio dramas that are going “above and beyond” in their storytelling right now. First off, the fantastic folks at Audio Epics have just completed crowdfunding of a full-length audiobook version of their drama, The Witch Hunter Chronicles.  This production will be a bigger, more detailed telling of the original tale, with more places, new characters and a new ending.  You can find outRead More →
