Fantasy fans, it’s time to tickle your ears with a tantalizing tale that twists the typical into a triumph of storytelling!
Rainbow Demons follows the formula of a fantasy quest story, but takes its cues from the real world. For example, with so much rainy weather in Vancouver – where creator Klim Levene lived at the time he started the series – rainbows as supernatural occurrences were…well, a natural! In this case, rainbows contain coins scattered within themselves, instead of being all together in a pot at the rainbow’s end. And Vancouver’s fog? Levene’s story makes that the whispered work of a demon. Then there are those shifty Rainmakers to contend with.
In this installment, you’ll hear episodes one and two: “The Escape” and “Devil’s Breath.” That should get you hooked on this highly original series.
After that, we continue the creative twists on classic genres with Privates: Ex Marks the Spot. It’s a wry, raunchy take on the noir detective story style, replete with wordplay galore. Jake Cotton, private eye, is on the case of a missing leopard. Sort of…because he’s really not getting anywhere with it. This is another gem from our pals at It’s All Been Done Radio Hour.
Get ready: these aren’t your grandfather’s fantasy and mystery genres!
