Episode 272 – Cavatica Forever

Welcome back audio dramaphiles! Last show was an April Fools’ episode; this show is all about shooting for the stars in two charming sci-fi tales. Starting things off is the tale of a young botanist in the depths of space, monitoring Ra-1079 from the dying ship Cavatica.  It’s “Girl in Space” – the brainchild of writer/mixer/voice actress/producer Sara Rhea Werner. With 8 episodes released and 4 more coming soon, she has already begun work on Season Two – so if you like what you hear tonight, there’s much more of the story to look forward to!  We’re kicking things off with Episode 1, “Cheese is Delicious Science”. Read More →

Episode 271 – Perfect Public Radio

This is a very late episode posting – the spring fund drive has passed, but we fell very short of our goal and will be having a station 24-hour fund drive event the week of May 24th.  Please help WCBE out by donating online at wcbe.org! Thank you to all of you who supported us during latest Spring Fund Drive for WCBE and supporting audio drama on the radio in the process. We love our parent station and we hope you love them too. In fact, we love them so much we thought a public radio-themed story would be a fun treat for tonight – Decoder RingRead More →

Episode 270 – Ternary Sky

It’s another jam-packed hour of storytelling this show!  As we move into March, it’s time for one more MAT Feature from our 2017 collection – last but not least is Michael McPherson’s, “Sea and Sky”, one of our winners from the MAT Script Competition last year.  Speaking of, congratulations to our winners for 2018!  Auditions for the characters in the winning scripts are fast approaching, so keep your eyes peeled for more info on that.  After “Sea and Sky” is one more Summer Showcase Series story, entitled “Thinking in Ternary” from Decoder Ring Theatre.  It’s an episode all about memory and imagination – and we hopeRead More →

Episode 269 – Perfect Bonds

If you’re feeling dreary, not to worry!  We have some audio dramas to catch your attention, including another premiere from our MAT Features collection of 2017. This week we’re bringing you a story by Evan Waters, entitled “They Slipped the Bonds of Earth” – a story of science fiction, with a project gone horribly wrong. It is voiced by a fantastic group of actors – and a special thanks goes out to the evening staff at WCBE, for providing some of the background cafe goers you might hear if you listen close enough.  After that, it’s a story from the Decoder Ring Theatre Showcase series, penned byRead More →

Episode 268 – Saving the Egg

And thank you for joining us on another premiere night of MAT Features!  We received all of the submissions to our scriptwriting competition, so it’s time for the judges to review the contenders!  In the meantime, we’re happy to bring you another one of our MAT Features from 2017. It’s a comedic romp through the woods with some suspicious undertones in Peter Gruenbaum’s “Bad Egg”.  After that, we have another variety of Decoder Ring Theatre – one of their Summer Showcase Series stories doing their take on a Great Northern Audio favorite. It’s the superhero mockumentary “The Saving of the World”. But first, time for our MAT Feature:Read More →

Episode 267 – Black Jack and the Plague

Ah ha! We’re quite late to posting this episode, unfortunately – with our concern with posting the latest MAT Features to their pages in a timely fashion, we neglected the episode posting after its premiere. In this show, we kicked off the first of our MAT Features from our 2017 collection, followed by two episodes of Black Jack Justice from Decoder Ring Theatre: Episode 38, “Cops and Robbers” and Episode 42, “The Sky’s the Limit”. This show we really crammed as much audio drama into the hour as possible, so we didn’t get a chance to properly thank the cast and crew of our firstRead More →

Episode 265 – A Hushed Journey

It’s another chilly evening for some audio storytelling, and we’re bringing you some more tales for a dark and stormy night with Trixie Dixon and Jack Justice.  We’re joined by Decoder Ring Theatre once again as we wait on our newest MAT Features, produced from the winning submissions to last year’s Scriptwriting Competition.  At the same time, we’re counting down to our MAT Scriptwriting Competition deadline on February 4th.  Have you got your entry in yet?   Our minimum requirements ask for a 20 page maximum, along with no more than 4 central characters and a few language considerations for FCC.  So tell us your story!  Or, if you’reRead More →

Episode 263 – A Weathered Clock

Hello audio drama fans!  We have very little chatter in this episode – we heard your requests for more Black Jack Justice stories, so we’re treating you to more of Jack and Trixie in the new year.  This show clocks out just a few seconds shy of our full hour…which means you have a full 60 minutes chock full of these super sleuths to enjoy.  If you can’t get enough of this dynamic duo, or want to check out a certain tag-team of superheroes from Toronto, head over to Decoder Ring Theatre to check out both Black Jack Justice and The Red Panda Adventures.  TheseRead More →
