Episode 347 – Soldiering On

Episode 347 – Soldiering On

All year long, we feature the best English-language audio dramas we can find from around the world.  Now, it’s time for our own features!

Here – and continuing in the next couple of episodes – we present original stories written by the winners of our annual scriptwriting competition.  We’re taking a break from the competition for 2020, but there are plenty of other stellar stories stored and standing by.

Our last episode (#346) presented wonderful, haunting works from Jim McDoniel’s entries for 2017 and 2018.  This time, get ready for the debut of his 2019 winning script, “The Wild Hunt.”  When a soldier drifts into a small Prussian town in the late 1600s, the citizens are huddled in the inn, terrified of a huntsman and his wolves.  Several people have gone to the woods, never to return.  Can the town be saved…or will the soldier be sucked into The Hunt, as well?

“The Wild Hunt” is a pretty heavy story, so we follow that with a little light death.  Or it might just be a case of lost love.  Either way, it’s clearly a paying job for Trixie Dixon and Jack Justice.  “Full Fathom Five” is Decoder Ring Theatre‘s 66th installment of Black Jack Justice, when our hard-boiled duo try to figure out which combination of secrets and lies will bring home a missing sailor.

Now, don’t you go missing another moment of great audio drama.  Get this podcast playing, and thrill your ears!
