Episode 232 – Set Course For (Fund Drive) Adventure!

Welcome to the fund drive! That’s right, it’s that time of year again when we ask you lovely audio drama listeners to support our parent station that helps us bring audio drama back to the radio airwaves. With the 2018 Federal budget plan calling for the complete elimination of funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, WCBE is in critical need of listener support. We would never have gotten to where we are today without WCBE, and we’re asking to you to help keep audio storytelling to the airwaves by going to wcbe.org and clicking on the “Donate” button at the top of the page. And give aRead More →

Episode 231 – Adventure By Land or By Sea

It’s time for more tales on the high sea!  This show we’re rejoining the jolly crew of Atlanta Radio Theatre Company. Last week we heard the first two installments of their adaptation of Treasure Island, and we’re back again with more in Parts 3 and 4 – “My Shore Adventure” and “My Sea Adventure”.  Hold tight to the rails, ye scallywags – the adventure has just begun! And, speaking of ARTC, did you know that they have a circuit of live performances?  They’re kicking things off this April with some noir and mystery at the 221B Con in Atlanta, GA. Definitely check it out ifRead More →

Episode 230 – Quite the Treasure!

Arr!  Avast ye lollygaggin’ scallywags!  Ye may have noticed a few of our past episodes have gone missin’ – that’s ’cause they were mutinous reruns and we had them run the plank.  ‘Tis time for something new, me hearties! Ahem.  Sorry about that. Hey there, audio drama fans – this show we go the full hour with the Atlanta Radio Theatre Company and their newest release, Treasure Island!  This is a five-part adaptation of the classic tale, outlined by Thomas E. Fuller and Brad Strickland with Stickland completing the full script adaptation. Both Fuller and Strickland found Treasure Island to be a natural choice for audio drama, withRead More →

Episode 229 – Winners!

Hello there, audio drama fans!  We had a lot to talk about this episode, so hang tight…. First things first – we mentioned last show that we’d be doing a double-feature premiere of our MAT Features from 2016. However, we changed our plans up a bit and figured we’d split the stories across two weeks – because next show will air just before our live auditions for this year’s MAT Features in Columbus, OH!  If you live in Columbus but can’t make it out for tryouts, not to worry – you can send in your audition by email through Sunday, March 12th.  Check out our audition pageRead More →

Episode 224 – Features of Years Gone By

Hey there audio drama fans!  You’ll notice we don’t have an episode posted for last week; we had a rerun of Black Jack Justice tales from Decoder Ring Theatre playing on our show, so we had nothing new to share.  But it sounds like it was a good choice to bring back – we heard back from some of you about how you missed the gumshoe duo, so we’ll have to see what we can do about bringing you a few more tales in the upcoming weeks. This show, however, is our time to dust off some of our old Features. With our Scriptwriting Competition goingRead More →

Episode 223 – On Your Mark, Get Set – It’s Decoder Showcase!

Happy 2017, everyone!  Welcome to another new year as we drift through the audio cosmos.  As we prepare for the coming months and our newest MAT Features, we decided to revisit the Decoder Ring Theatre Showcase series.  Back in 2014, Decoder Ring teamed up with Great Northern Audio Theatre to produce “Mark Time Show Time” – a collection of stories that were originally written for live performance at the awards ceremony of the annual Mark Time Awards.  These scripts have been collected and produced with the Decoder Ring cast, and available for your listening enjoyment on their website.  This show we decided to take a listen toRead More →

Episode 220 – A Monsterous Holiday at Home

Happy Holidays, everyone!  This week we have some new and old friends visiting our show lineup.  Kicking things off is Earbud Theater with a spoof off of a well-loved NPR program in the story, “This Monsterous Life“.   We’re excited to have Earbud Theater back for another story after having them on our show in May and June.  And speaking of old friends, we also have Decoder Ring Theatre.  It’s an evening holiday story with everyone’s favorite flat-foot, Black Jack Justice in Episode 58: Home for the Holidays.  Don’t forget to support both groups through iTunes and their Facebook pages!  And don’t forget about our scriptwriting competition, goingRead More →

Episode 218 – Once Upon a Snow White Evening….

Hi folks!  This show is a bit short on the introduction side, as we bring you Voice in the Wind Audio Theatre and their newest release, Snow White.  It’s a charming take on the classic fairy tale that, while not typically considered a holiday story, showcases that kind of innocence and wonder we had as children, something we think of more often during the holidays.  Voices in the Wind Audio Theatre have many more full-length stories at their website, including some especially for Christmas, so be sure to check them out! Also, a quick note – last week we announced the start of our annualRead More →
