It’s another world premiere!
With this episode, we conclude our celebration of Midnight Audio Theatre-produced features with the debut of a story by K.G. Kline; it won in our 2019 scriptwriting competition.
“No Man’s Land” opens above Earth. A vast orbiting luxury space hotel has been converted into a weather observation station with just one occupant. The ho-hum routine of her daily duties must alter suddenly when she receives a surprising transmission from a long-forgotten vessel. This may alter more than her daily duties – it could alter the entire course of this future human society.
There are stories behind the story, too. It was our very first satellite audio drama – where actors could record their own lines separately and send them in to be mixed together as one cast regardless of their actual physical location. We even had Zoom rehearsals long before COVID hit, so online meetings were no big deal for us when the pandemic lockdowns began! We deeply thank Keith Jackson, Erin Lillis, Cathy Rinella, and Cate Blair-Wilhelm for their wonderful acting, and even more magnificent patience and flexibility while we worked through this new method of production.
From science fiction, we’ll move to science fact with a quick drop-in at the Amazing Science Emporium to learn a little bit about space.
Then we’ll saunter out the Emporium’s back door to enter the offices of Justice and Dixon one final time, as Decoder Ring Theatre presents Black Jack Justice #65: “The One that Got Away.” The jaunty angle of Trixie’s hat belies a less-than-jaunty price she must pay to keep the people she cares about safe. A drunk partner doesn’t help matters.
Click “play” and kick back for some sci-fi, sci-fact, and scintillating noir!
