This episode title seems so innocent, doesn’t it? When in fact, this set of holiday stories revolves around the theme of the unexpected – some good and others not so much. What may come as a surprise to you right at the start is the premiere of our newest MAT Feature! We’ve been in high-gear working on getting this story mixed and finished for the holiday season.
“The Angel of Casimir” is written by Jim McDoniel, one of our winners from our last MAT Scriptwriting Competition (which has come around again – go check it out here). McDoniel takes us to December 1914, spinning a new story within the Christmas truce during World War I. Our local actors did a fantastic job, and we hope we did both the story and the voices justice.
After our time on the battlefield, we’re heading into deep space to visit EOS 10, as they take a special day to celebrate the Solstice season with holiday cheer – and a Christmas “tree” that turns out to be far more than the ship can handle. EOS 10 is a popular science-fiction series that has three seasons under their belt, with a fourth set to premiere in January on Stitcher. This series is both humorous and engaging, following the medical team of the spaceship as they do their best to tackle both personal and personnel problems. (We’re hoping to bring you a bit more of EOS 10 in 2019, so if you enjoy this story keep your ears open and your fingers crossed!)
Last but not least, rounding everything off is an unusual but touching tale from The Truth Podcast. Known for their weird and wonderful stories, “Mall Santa” introduces us to – you guessed it – a mall Santa, who has run into a definite rough patch in life. The folks from The Truth recently released a new four-part miniseries called “The Off Season” that is intense and relevant to today’s times, in typical style of The Truth’s storytelling and production. The Truth has a host of stories to choose from as well, so if you aren’t familiar with the series be sure to give their archives a run through!
