We’re back for another installment in our “Fantastic Summer” features! This episode we welcome The Bright Sessions and The Once and Future Nerd. Both productions will be with us for the next two weeks as well, so if tonight’s selections intrigue you, you’ll be happy to know there’s more where that came from.
To start things off, we sit down with some therapy with The Bright Sessions – following a group of unique therapy patients with supernatural abilities. The show documents their struggles and discoveries in sessions with their mysterious therapist, Dr. Bright. In this installment, we’ll be hearing from Patient 12-D-10, or “Samantha”. When developing the Bright Sessions, Sam was the only character for a long time, before series writer and producer Lauren Shippen decided to give her someone to talk to. The imagined conversations that ensued between Sam and her therapist were so fun to think about, that Lauren wanted to put them down on paper. Our show tonight features the first two meetings between Sam and Dr. Bright, in Episodes 1 and 4 of ‘The Bright Sessions’.
After our therapy session, it’s time to go back to school before we’re whisked off to far-away lands. In ‘The Once and Future Nerd‘, three high school students from modern-day Pennsylvania find themselves trapped in a world of wizards, elves, and feudal intrigue – forcing them to learn to survive in their new surroundings, and undertake an epic quest to save the world from chaos. If you like ‘The Once and Future Nerd’ and love all things old-school, the show has released a special edition of their entire First Book on a cassette tape/USB drive, with over 12 hours worth of story content and extra behind-the-scenes bonus content. You can find it online at AudioBooksOnTape.com by searching for “Once and Future Nerd”. We’ll be bringing you the first three parts of the first chapter of their story, The Prince of Iorden, over the next few weeks. This show’s installment – Chapter 1, Part 1. Enjoy!
