Episode 97 – ‘Tis the Season

Welcome to December!  Here’s hoping everyone has been safe with the rough winter weather we’ve been having.  Tonight starts a series of holiday episodes that are a bit on the uncommon side, but still good to come home to, out of the cold with a warm drink.  Even if they are filled with holiday horror and mystery – there’s also a bunch of comedy to go around too.  ๐Ÿ™‚ This episode is a holiday story from 19 Nocturne Boulevard, “Three Exes for Xmas“, as well as the first half of “Mince Pie Murder” from the Wireless Theatre Company.  Sit down and have a listen! Episode 96 — Down The Rabbit Hole

Cathy’s been sick this past week with a nasty sinus infection, so we took this opportunity to feature an hour-long audio drama adaptation of Lewis Caroll’s “Alice in Wonderland,” as performed and created by Voices in the Wind Audio Theatre. Because this took up the whole show, we’ve decided not to post the MAT episode online (the amount of hosting done took less than a minute, so we didn’t really see the point), but you can go download and listen in here at Voices in the Wind Audio Theatre’s website. ย They did a great job — definitely go and check them out!

Episode 95 – Fluidity of Reality

Good evening, and welcome back for our last night of MAT Features! To start off the evening, we have our last (but not least) MAT Feature, “The Ghost of Arch Oboler”, written by Bret Jones.  In addition to that, we’re revisted by our old friend and vigilante “The Voice” from Two Minute Danger Theater, and for the second half of the program we’ll be listening to “Every Now and Then”, a suspense story from ‘Voices in the Wind Audio Theater’.   It’s an engaging listen with great actors and well-done production work, so be sure to tune in!   And did you hear?  This may beRead More →

Episode 94 – Features, Part Quatro!

Happy (belated) All-Hallows-Eve! If you tuned in last week, you may have noticed some different voices during our time slot – that’s because Doug Dangler, host of Craft: The Show webcast and podcast series, locally produced an all-original Halloween radio play special which we played on air instead of MAT.  If you missed it, you can catch it posted on the Craft: The Show website or by downloading it from their page on iTunes. Definitely give it a listen if you can! Tonight we bring you two back-to-back MAT Features! We start out the evening with ‘Nirvana White’ by Philip Hickman, followed by ‘The Hostage’ byRead More →

Episode 93 – It’s Back, From Outerspace!

Dear audio drama fans and listeners of WCBE: You are all fantastically amazing. WCBE managed to make their fundraising goal in full for the Fall, which is the first time in I-don’t-know-how-many years.  And it’s all thanks you folks, you extraordinary listeners and supporters.  I can’t say thank you enough. During the fund drive, we replayed Book One of “The Intergalactic Nemesis”.  As a way of showing our thanks for your support, this episode we decided to release the first half of “The Intergalactic Nemesis, Book Two: Robot Planet Rising”.  We have been saving this story for a special occasion, and thought tonight was theRead More →

Episode 92 – Features, Part Tres!

Welcome welcome! Tonight is another MAT Feature, along with the continuation of “This Thing of Ours” from Decorated Air Theatre.  After tonight, we’ll be caught up with “This Thing of Ours” for now, so we’ll be taking a break from the series to share some more new audio dramas with you, as well as the rest of our MAT Features.  So enjoy it while it’s here!  Speaking of, tonight’s selection is entitled “Chloe Masterson and the Karate Belt of Power“, written by grade-school student Eva Anderson.  Eva is the youngest winner we’ve had on our scriptwriting contest so far; we were impressed with her skillsRead More →

Episode 91 – Features, Part Deux!

Welcome, audio drama friends.  We’re back with another episode of Decorated Air Theatre‘s “This Thing of Ours“, as well as another installment from our featured scriptwriting competition winners of 2012.  Tonight’s selection is “Going Home” by Kathy Brady.  They should be fun listens – and we even ended a little early this show, so you can take the rest of the hour off before your next class.  ๐Ÿ˜‰     As we continue to showcase our MAT features over the next few weeks, we’re going to make a point of taking some time each show to talk about the scriptwriting competition, the organizations who haveRead More →

Episode 90 – Features!

Hello again!  Tonight we’ve started our series of scriptwriting contest winners from 2012.  You know, that thing we’ve been busily mixing and indirectly causing a lot of reruns this summer?  So first selection of the night is “A Choice Between” by Glenn Hascall.  After that we have another episode of Decorated Air Theatre‘s “This Thing of Ours“, and rounding out the evening with “SNAFU” from 19 Nocturne Boulevard.  It’s a pretty tight schedule of stories tonight, but we managed to get them all in!  Take a listen!     (P.S. – Since we won’t have anyone in town to host MAT next week, we’ll be doing another by-week.Read More →

Episode 89 – The Pigeon on the House

Ready for another variety of audio entertainment? Tonight we bring you more stories from 19 Nocturne Boulevard.  We’ve got something light and something dark, as we bring you “The Perfect Pigeon” and “The House on Mulberry Hill” – a little art, a little comedy, a creepy house and some ne’er-do-well kids that would have gotten away with it too if it wasn’t for…well, you’ll have to tune it to find out!   You only have to turn down the road, number 19…..

Episode 88 – This Thing of Ours is Worth Screaming About

Guess what?  New episode! Well okay – technically you’re seeing this a week late.  As I mention in this episode’s pre-show ramblings, right now things are a bit mussed up due to focusing our attentions on audio drama production of last year’s winners.  The MAT staff/crew is very small, so at the moment splitting our focus on projects (especially mine) means something gets dropped along the way by accident.  Here’s hoping we’re not rocking the boat too much for y’all.  We know you like to hear new works on a regular basis, and we’re trying to keep to that whenever we can.  MAT doesn’t doRead More →
