We’re back with more reports from the field! Specifically two “participating witness” podcasts we shared with you last show – Small Town Horror and Otherverse. This show we promised to take a look at the many other audio dramas series created by both production groups, in hopes that tonight’s stories have whet your appetite for more.
Otherverse is produced by Crossroad Stations, a group that has already established several different stories harking to all kinds of audio drama types and tropes – if OTR is your preferred style, Jim Robbie and the Wanderers might suit you with it’s band of musical misfits wandering across America. If intrigue and listener participation are more your style, Oakpodcast is a series that is part Alternate Reality Game – where the transmissions of a spy codenamed “Holly” are released periodically, influenced by listener feedback and Patreon. And their supernatural series, Misadventure By Death, has recently launched and posts episodes on a monthly basis, following Neil Hastbury-Rue in his new job as groundskeeper for a possibly haunted Museum.
Back in the world of Small Town Horror, creator Jon Grilz has continued down the dark and spooky route with the Creepy Podcast. The show features “creepypasta” stories – modern tales and legends that are mostly steeped in horror or the paranormal, which have anonymously made the rounds through the internet via chain emails and online forums. The podcast is a telling of these stories in audio format, with a twitter account that’s open to listener requests and suggestions for future stories. Its a horror anthology series borne out of the creative minds of the online world, and some of it not for the faint of heart.
Keep these shows in mind as we turn our ears to hear more from last week’s shows, with Otherverse, Ep.2: PSA, followed by Small Town Horror, Episodes 1 and 2 – “Homecoming” and “Voices From the Past”.
