Welcome back everyone! If you’re in the U.S. and reading this, you must have survived Black Friday. Congratulations! As your reward, we have two audio dramas this show that echo that now-past theme of family and togetherness for Thanksgiving, with enough of a dark twist to remind you that even the best intentions can be wicked. It’s all in the two episodes we’re playing from Uncanny County this evening – “The Eleventh Hour” and “Mother Loves You”.
Also, a happy announcement for all you scriptwriters and storytellers! It’s that time of year again, as this show marks the official kick-off of MAT’s annual Scriptwriting Competition. Each year we welcome folks of all ages and experience to submit short audio drama scripts of any genre – the winners of the competition will have their stories produced and heard on MAT in the coming year. Over the next month or so, we’ll be debuting the works of last year’s winners – Glenn Hascall with “Breakfast with Robin” and Jim McDoniel with “The Fairy Wood” – as our current competition stays open. And if you’ve found yourself caught up in the holiday season in the past and unable to submit your story in time, never fear – we’ve extended our submission deadline to Sunday February 5th, so you’ll have plenty of time to get your writing into full gear. Look for rules, guidelines and submission info on our website here!
