MAIN CHARACTERS
FEMALE
Eva – A kind and adventurous sixth grader.
(alert)
The guards! They’ve found us!
We can’t stay here. But if we stick together we can get through this.
Maybe there’s a way out…quick! Climb into that vent!
(happy) Don’t worry Dad, I’m taking a lot of notes.
I’m going to have the best take-your-daughter-to-work day report in my class.
Lily – Eva’s sidekick of about the same age.
(panicked)
I don’t know…we were at this meeting and
my dad had his bees and…and these guys beat him up
but I ran away and hid in here! Who are you?
(timidly)
Daddy, I don’t like the mean lady. She scares me.
Ms. Hoswell – Evil Head Manager of the Science Factory. Self-centered, driven in all actions by a desire for power, be it in position or control over others.
(mimicking)
All the work I put in. Boo hoo hoo.
Here’s something your little girl can tell her little friends at school tomorrow!
(emphatically) You’re fired!
(shrill voice)
What do you mean you lost her, Brimley?
And why did it take you so long to report?
Little girls do not just disappear into thin air, Brimley.
Now go find her, or you’ll pay for your incompetence!
MALE
Narrator – Your standard “classic radio announcer”; enthusiastic, professional, engaging.
That was some really good remembering, Jimmy!
And another thing you’ll always want to remember
is the yummy feeling of satisfaction that’s jam-packed into
each and every spoonful of Nutty-Os.
Well kids, we hope you like exciting adventures.
Because tonight’s Showcase Theater story is called Take Your Daughter to Work Day.
It’s the story about what happens when a girl named Eva
gets to go to work with her dad.
Will – Janitor at the Science Factory; Eva’s dad. Friendly, enjoys his job; the guy everyone knows at work.
(proud)
You see, Eva, the key to doing a good mop job
is to make sure that you use enough elbow grease to get the stains out in the first place.
Now, you just mop over there while I get this dust cleaned up.
(urgent, has been taken captive)
Quick, Eva! Run back to the Janitor’s Closet! I’ll meet you there! Run Eva!

MINOR CHARACTERS
*NOTE: Those cast as minor characters may be requested to double in bit parts
as guards or additional scientists.
MALE
Stillson – Scientist at the Science Factory; Lily’s Dad.
(timidly)
Yes, ma’am. Well, I have had some positive progress with the Apidae project.
In fact, I brought in some samples to show…I’ll just reach under and…
Cooley – Scientist at the Science Factory; head of Mind Control development dept.
(greasily)
Pardon me, Ms. Hoswell,
but I have been working on something that might be of interest to you.
Rather than discussing this in front of everyone else,
I thought there might be more profit to be shared by the just the two of us.
Mr. Van der Meir – President of the Science Factory
We’ll need to be off to that shareholder’s meeting.
Between the killings, beatings and misappropriation of inventions
that have been going on around here while I have been gone,
we have a lot of explaining to do to our shareholders.
ANY
Boy (in ad interstitial) – The plucky young lad who helps the Narrator advertise the Nutty-O’s sponsorship of “Take Your Daughter To Work Day”
That sure was an exciting adventure, mister!
Boy, being a scientist sure would be a neat job, wouldn’t it?
