6th-Annual Scriptwriting Contest Winners

Congratulations, writers!

You certainly did not disappoint – in fact you were overwhelmingly awesome!  We had the most submissions to our contest this year than we’ve ever had before, with stories of every size, shape and genre.  And with a shorter review time than last year, you all really gave our judges a run for their money.  A huge congratulations goes out to everyone who submitted; everyone did a fantastic job.  Give yourself a pat on the back and four cookies – in fact, take five cookies this year.  And two chocolate bars!  You deserve it.

In the end, we decided to start a new tradition this year – not only did our judges pick three scripts to be winners, but a fourth was selected by our show staff and station manager; a “Producer’s Choice” if you will.  These four selections will be produced and aired on our program on WCBE 90.5 FM/HD Columbus, making up our 2017 MAT Features collection.

The winning writers of our script competition are:

Peter Gruenbaum – “The Definition of Bad Guy”
Jim McDoniel – “The Plague Song”
Michael McPherson – “Sea and Sky”
Evan Waters – “They Slipped the Bonds of Earth”

Congratulations to our winners of the 6th-Annual MAT Scriptwriting Competition!
Keep an ear out for these four stories as we bring them to life in 2017.

The rest of you, be sure to keep writing –
we hope to hear from you in the late Fall of 2017 for our next competition!
